Street Fighter V Tournament

Tournament Structure | Rules | Prizes

Tournament Structure
  • Single Elimination.
  • Due to time constraints, advancement will depend on the number of entrants:
    • Grand Finals will be best 3 out of 5 games, regardless.
    • If there are more than 32 players, all other matches will be determined by the winner of a single  .
    • If there are more than 16 players, but less than 32, the first round of matches will be determined by the winner of a single set. All other matches leading to grand finals will be played best 2 of 3 sets.
    • If there are 16 players or less, all other matches leading to grand finals will be played best 2 of 3 sets.

Rules
  • All DLC characters present on the machine are allowed during gameplay. They are expected to be present at the time of the tournament, but not guaranteed.
  • Players may freely choose their character for the first set in a given match.
  • When a match will be played with multiple sets, only the loser of the previous set may change characters.
  • Stage to be determined based upon agreement of players.  If two players don’t agree, the stage will be selected at random.
  • At the start of the match, players are allowed a brief in-game button check to ensure their controllers are working properly.
    • Additionally, players are encouraged to use the button checking features in the character selection screen.
  • If a player accidentally pauses or triggers the home/share screen for any reason once actual gameplay has started, the following takes place:
    • Tournament staff will then examine the current state of gameplay (health, super meter, v-meter) for further reference and investigate the cause.
    • If the player who triggered the pause believes there is a clear malfunction with the controller, the tournament staff will attempt to determine if this is the case.
      • If it cannot be clearly determined that the controller itself is malfunctioning, the player whose controller caused the interruption automatically forfeits the round.
      • If there is a clear malfunction with the controller, attempts will be made to resume the game from its paused state with a functioning replacement controller.
        • In the event that gameplay cannot immediately resume, the players must either agree to restart the current set, or attempt to recreate the previous game state as faithfully as possible based on the observations of the tournament staff at the start of the incident.
      • Unsportsmanlike conduct or other forms of disorderly/inappropriate conduct will be dealt with at the discretion of the tournament staff.

Prizes
  • The first place winner will be awarded a Street Fighter figurine for a character of their choice. Because of the nature of this prize, it will not be physically available during the convention.  At the conclusion of the tournament, staff will collect contact information from the winning participant in order to ensure they receive their prize after the convention has passed.
  • 2nd place: A trophy signifying the player’s achievement.
